It is also classed as a Scheduled Ancient Monument by the Department of the Environment for its archaeological remains.

A 7-mile stretch of sand and dunes makes up Brean beach. It boasts one of the longest stretches of sand in Europe and at low tide a vast expanse of mud flats is exposed. Access to the beach is easy as there is plenty of parking both next to and literally on the beach in designated areas. Toilets and drinking water are available and there are usually snacks in the form of an ice cream vans and a burger van.
Brean Down Tropical Bird Garden is a family run business situated on the edge of National Trust land in an area of outstanding natural beauty and only a few yards from the beach. It’s a great place to bring the family and an ideal opportunity to discover the rare beauty associated with tropical birds found throughout the world. The Licensed cafe offers a splendid variety of both hot and cold food, which will come as a welcome sight should you decide to explore one of the many walks the rugged landscape of Brean Down has to offer.
Brean Golf Club is situated on the Somerset coast at Brean Leisure Park, 10 minutes from Burnham On Sea, and M5 J22. The current layout of the course is an 18 holes cover 5663yds from the back tees with a par of 69. Although not long by today’s standards it’s small greens & abundance of water hazards will keep golfers of any standard thinking throughout their round.
